Teesside Listening Tour

We were eager to build on the collective will to do mission together and the E-Team was a great way to do that. The team is a broad collection of ministries and leaders with the aim to help with supporting the majority of the churches on continued mission journey together.

It was important to us that the churches did not see us as the team that would do mission but rather a body that would keep mission ‘hot’ in the minds of the churches. It was also going to be a support team to help the churches get to where they aspired to be both individually as well as collectively in their mission delivery.

The starting point for us was to find out what dreams and hopes the leaders had for our region, what opportunities did they see – both fruitful ones and untapped ones. It was also important to hear what the gaps and challenges leaders observed and experienced in their desires to see the dreams fulfilled.

Under the guidance of the Palau team we decided to carry out their Listening Tour and collect the wisdom and observations of the Teesside Church Leaders. To facilitate this, we created a questionnaire and set about interviewing leaders throughout Teesside. Our aim was to get a breadth of feedback as it is important to us that the findings represent the experience of the majority of Teesside Churches and not just the perspective of one or two.

The responses were then passed on to Palau to process and they produced a wonderful report that we can now share with local leaders. Everyone has been given a hardcopy and now we are journeying with the leaders on key points raised to see what they feel is the best way to move forward together and what equipping will serve the collective church best.

Having a report is helpful because we can now say confidently that this is what we are all seeing and that is a powerful tool to take everyone on a journey together.
